The two most dominant teams in NBA history have been the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. When you talk about an NBA franchise history, you look at the number of championships that each franchise has won. The 1960s was a time. When the Boston Celtics dominated the league. The history of the rivalry between the Lakers and Celtics dates back as far as the 1950s with arrivals of George Mikan from the Minneapolis Lakers and Bill Russell of the Boston Celtics. This rivalry was strengthened even further in the 1980s with Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics and Magic Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers. Ironically these two battled against each other in college for the national championship the year before their rookie seasons in the NBA.

The 1990s brought on one of the NBA's greatest athletes of all time, Michael Jordan. Although he entered the league in 1984, his success started in the 1990s winning six championships for the Chicago Bulls. His athleticism, style, and slamdunk performances, brought the NBA a popularity that is unmatched.

There have been many changes in the NBA since its inception in 1946. The style of play has the only changes that have taken place over the last 50 years.

Not only has the style of play changed in the NBA but the uniforms of the players have changed dramatically. The old days of the really tight short shorts have been replaced by the new oversized, baggy uniforms. Headbands, wristbands, and flashy shoes are a common part of today's NBA uniform. The throwback jerseys NBA Teams and Citiesare popular item for fans, but the new style of uniform has continued to develop for the players.

Nike, Adidas, and Reebok have been in a battle to win over the most popular NBA players to showcase their shoes. The national basketball Association is a marketing dynasty like no other. It is by far the only athletic league that continues to develop its sports merchandise to fit the needs of each fan.

NBA throwback jerseys are a very popular NBA merchadise.  Wearing old school jerseys of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordon, Dr. J, and Karrem Abdul Jabbar is a common occurence in all NBA arenas.  Sometimes, when the new teams make changes, fans like to remince and look back to the old days and re-live Magic Johnson Throwback Jerseythose glorious championship days.  Every team will go through tough times, but when you get to put on our old jersey and pretend that you are hitting that buzzer beater shot in your backyard, you know you have lived the old days.

Many fans of the game of basketball remember the glory days of players such as Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and yes, even Dennis Rodman. NBA throwback jerseys, those that celebrate these pillars of the game, are a must for not just basketball enthusiasts but fashion-savvy sport lovers everywhere. What better to show your respect to those who served as cornerstones of your favorite game than to proudly wear one of their jerseys?

There are a couple of things to remember about purchasing NBA throwback jerseys. One of the most important is to be picky about whose name you want on your back. For example, true basketball enthusiasts may remember the name Bernard King, but anyone outside of Washington might now. Wouldn't it be better to choose a Larry Bird or Reggie Miller jersey? When wearing an NBA throwback jersey, you want people to know that you're proud of the game and the player, not have Celtics Merchandisethem think that you don't even know whose name is on your shirt.

Also, make the jersey something important to you. If your hometown is Detroit, there's nothing better than an NBA throwback jersey from the glory days of the 1980's, when the Bad Boys ruled the court. You can be proud to wear Bill Laimbeer or Joe Dumars on your shirt no matter where you are now. Let people know that this was your home team and that they still are today.

Your NBA throwback jersey should be something special to you, not just another fashion statement or accessory. If you don't have a favorite player from years past, then get one. Read up on your home team's history and find out what makes these players household names. Only by really appreciating the player's name and the team's name that you're wearing will your NBA throwback jersey be something special to you.
